Esker revenues grow in 2001

Success across all lines of business propel Esker to solid year-to-date performance

Stillwater, Okla., August 27, 2001 - Esker's success with its Intelligent Information DeliveryTM (IID) and Host Access products led to a 23 percent increase in revenues compared to the first half of 2000. Each of Esker's product lines contributed to achieving revenues of 15.8 million Euros (approximately $14.5 million). Despite the downturn in the U.S. economy during this period, Esker enjoyed its greatest success there, achieving growth of more than 62 percent compared to the same period in 2000.

Growth of the IID product line continues to accelerate at a rate of nearly 146 percent in the first half of 2001, compared to the same period in 2000. PulseTM, the newest IID solution launched in February 2001, contributed significantly to the growth of this product line. Sales of Esker's other IID solutions, Faxgate and VSI-FAX, remain strong as well. Some of the significant business transactions contributing to Esker's year-to-date success in the IID market include:

  • Willamette Industries. Pulse is to enable electronic delivery of data from its Indus EMPAC™ enterprise asset management application. Experian is licensing Pulse for use in its call center to reduce average document delivery time from 12 minutes to three. Other organizations also selecting Pulse for multi-channel output delivery include Union Bank of California, Reliant Energy, Pacific Century Cyberworks, Schneider National, C&S Wholesale Grocers, Tab Limited, Toronto Mutual Life, and South Carolina State Ports Authority.
  • State Street Global Advisors installed VSI-FAX for Notes to process trade confirmations. An estimated $10 billion of trade confirmations are processed through VSI-FAX for Notes each business day. UnumProvident Insurance Company selected VSI-FAX for Notes to communicate policy information, quotes, claims, and patient records to its network of offices and agents. Other organizations also selecting VSI-FAX for Notes include Bax Global, The Federal Aviation Administration, and the United Nations.
  • Air Products and Chemicals is adopting Faxgate as the worldwide fax solution, with new servers installing in six European locations and upgrades planned for installed Faxgate servers in the U.S. Some other significant Faxgate business transactions year-to-date were with GE Power Systems, GE Medical Systems, Bechtel, and Sara Lee Knit Products.

Revenues in Esker's Host Access product line experienced growth of 2.1 percent in the second quarter, compared to the second quarter of 2000, and a 9 percent increase compared to the first quarter of 2001. Some of the significant business transactions contributing to Esker's year-to-date success in the Host Access market include:

  • Nieman Marcus. Tun Emul will provide host access for a new call center.
  • The Veterans Health Administration. SmarTerm provides access to a patient care record and facilities management database.
  • Georgia Pacific Corporation, Renal Care Group, BMG Music, and the Los Angeles Public Library also purchased new or upgraded existing licenses of Esker's Host Access products.

It has been a year of establishing relationships with new business partners for Esker, particularly based on Esker's innovative IID solutions:

  • Lotus has endorsed VSI-FAX for Notes, and Esker's sales lead flow from the Notes/Domino fax market has increased five-fold as a result.
  • Cincom Systems® now provides a comprehensive information delivery solution for the enterprise by incorporating Esker's Pulse with its Cincom's iD Solutions™ offerings.
  • Mobius Management Systems, Inc. and Esker partnered to help enterprises manage and deliver content more effectively by applying Pulse's capabilities to information managed by Mobius's ViewDirect® software.
  • ZixIt Corporation and Esker partnered to enable users of Pulse to send electronic documents and data securely through ZixMail.net.
  • The French national postal service, La Poste, developed a service that connects Pulse to the innovative Mailev@ "hybrid mail" service. Mailev@ enables application generated documents to be sent with the ease of e-mail.
  • Active Voice and Esker partnered to provide a pure-Notes unified messaging solution for the Lotus Domino market.

"The energy in the Host Access has been stronger than we anticipated," states Dan Speer, CEO of Esker Inc. "We've seen more business come from competitive winbacks this year, and customers migrating to Windows 2000 are driving a lot of upgrade activity. Pulse, the flagship of our IID product line, is performing well against our projections, and VSI-FAX for Notes is doing very well in the Notes marketplace. As a company, we're beginning to realize the benefits from our investment in sales force automation. These factors, combined with the continuity of our sales team and the absence of distractions due to merger and acquisition activity, have contributed to our results year-to-date."
