Esker’s History of Growth and Innovation

Esker entered the information technology market in 1985 as a software consulting company in Lyon, France. Over the next 15+ years, Esker has grown into a worldwide leader in DeliveryWare, Fax Server, and Host Access solutions with offices in North America, Europe, and Australia — and a network of partners, distributors, and resellers in more than 80 countries.

Esker launched its first product, Tun, in 1989. Tun has since matured and evolved into a true innovation in host access and host access management. At the same time, Esker expanded operations by establishing numerous subsidiaries and securing a broad base of resellers, primarily in Europe.

Esker was one of the first companies to make its initial public offering on the Nouveau Marché, an autonomous market associated with the Paris Stock Exchange (now Euronext - Paris). The Nouveau Marché lists young and innovative companies — often in the technology industry — with the potential for exceptional growth.

Esker acquired Teubner & Associates, a U.S. developer of enterprise gateway software, including Faxgate (now Esker Fax) and A-Net. With the acquisition, Esker enhanced its presence in the U.S., assumed a leading position in the fax-server market, and initiated its information delivery strategy.

Esker acquired Persoft, further strengthening its U.S. presence, expanding its host access product line, and gaining an established American sales channel. A pioneer in terminal emulation software, Persoft developed complete products for local and remote access such as SmarTerm and Persona.

Esker acquired VSI (V-Systems, Inc.). VSI has over 40,000 fax servers installed, primarily for Unix, Linux, and Lotus Notes environments. The acquisition broadens Esker's Fax Server Solutions family, making Esker the third largest fax server vendor worldwide, according to IDC market research. Also, VSI's XML technology makes a strong contribution to Esker DeliveryWare Platform and Esker Fax.

Esker DeliveryWare is successfully launched and immediately implemented in several major customers. Esker DeliveryWare addresses many common problems that organizations experience related to paper business correspondence — manual handling errors, increasing IT complexity, slow processes, high postage costs, competitive pressures, and more.

Esker DeliveryWare seamlessly integrated with SAP to automatically transform raw output from SAP systems and deliver professional business correspondence immediately in any electronic format. Esker’s SAP customers can now cut form development time by 90% with the help of Esker DeliveryWare and Crystal Reports.

Mail on Demand launched to deliver business correspondence directly from enterprise applications to an external, outsourced mailroom that provides fast, high quality, cost-effective mail processing services. Esker gains international attention with story about New York Department of Education cutting invoice processing times by 75% using Esker DeliveryWare.

Esker on Demand service further advances document delivery options by enabling enterprises to automate on-demand mailing and faxing of business documents —and achieve cost savings of up to 45 percent or more per mail correspondence and up to 79 percent per fax.

Esker enters into joint venture with Chinese/Indonesian Conglomerate, Lippo Group, to market Esker products across Asia. Esker Software Asia Pacific is created in Singapore and jointly held by Esker (49%) and Lippo Group (51%).
Esker strengthens its position in the SAP domain with an SAP Connectivity Suite offering customized solutions to automate business document exchange within SAP applications.
Esker technology at the heart of Esker document automation solution receives a patent from the United States Patent and Trade Mark Office (USPTO), recognizing the solution as unique and innovative.

Esker announces a new corporate logo to more precisely portray the company’s core strengths.
Esker DeliveryWare 4.0 is released. The new version adds incoming document automation, offering organizations an end-to-end solution for receiving business-critical documents as well as sending them directly from enterprise applications, regardless of source.
Esker successfully launches FlyDoc, the online delivery service that enables users to send postal mail and faxes directly from desktop computers using common word processing software.

These strategic activities have provided Esker with broader technical and business expertise, and a solid U.S. foothold.
